The Mountain Track

The Mountain Track is also called the Pony Path, due to it’s historical origin. It is also incorrectly referred to as the Tourist Route. It is not easy to walk up the Mountain Track, but it is the easiest way to get to the summit of the mountain.
Summer
From June to October there may not be any snow on the mountain to affect the day, and specialist winter equipment would not be needed. However walking poles are still highly recommended.
Winter
The winter snows usually start in about November time, and these conditions sometimes require winter equipment, knowledge & navigation. The snow from the summit of the mountain is usually still present through May, and only really starts to be avoidable in June.

Why Climb Ben Nevis?
The collapsed dome of an ancient volcano, Ben Nevis stands above all others across the British Isles as the tallest peak above sea level. Unconquered until 1771, the peak is now one of the most famous destinations for hikers all over the UK, Europe and the world who complete the climb as a challenge or for the 120-mile views as far as Northern Ireland. A real climbing challenge, difficult conditions near the summit compounded by bad weather and poor visibility can make for a tough ascent, and unguided climbs by novices or the inexperienced are not recommended.
Our walks take the most accessible path, known as The Mountain Track. The easiest and most relaxed ascent up Ben Nevis, this walk doesn’t require any hiking knowledge or experience, but is it is still a challenge, so make sure you come prepared!

More experienced walkers, scramblers & climbers might find the walking on The Mountain Track a little tame. The next level of challenge is on The North Face of Ben Nevis, where there is simple scrambling to complex climbing. A lifetime of challenge – literally!
